James Button ran two CPD sessions on Public Health Law with a focus on recent amendments to the Public Health Law Act. These sessions formed part of the Professional Updates strand of the Advanced Public Health CPD Programme.

The first session, Public Health Law Update, provided those who have previously received training in public health law with an update on the recent changes. To download the handout and presentation given by James Button please click here.

Following demand we arranged for a second session to be available to those who have not yet received training in public health law. Both sessions contained the same content and fulfill the same competencies but the second session meant that those who have not studied public health law do not feel they have to 'catch up'. The second sesion was held on Thursday 8th October at 9.45am until 4pm. There was a piece of necessary pre-reading for this workshop. To download this pre-reading booklet please click here. James Button is the Principal of James Button & Co. He is an expert in the field of Licensing, Environmental Health and Public Health. He has considerable Local Government and NHS experience gained at Manchester City, South Tyneside Metropolitan Borough Councils and Manchester Health Authority. In 1996 he was instrumental in setting up the Local Government Licensing Forum which is now the Institute of Licensing. James has contributed to many written works and is the author of "Button on Taxis: Licensing Law and Practice 3rd Edition".
