Wellbeing in Yorkshire & Humber Programme

Course Overview

 WIN Logo

It is widely acknowledged that staff working within the statutory sector, and community and voluntary sectors, need to better understand their contribution to improving health and wellbeing. The Wellbeing in (Win) Yorkshire and Humber Programme is designed to provide employees and employers with an opportunity to enhance their work in improving the health and wellbeing of the population and tackling health inequalities.

The programme is open to all whose work involves improving the health and well being of people and communities. The intention of the programme is to raise awareness and understanding across all service areas, encouraging thinking on how these particular services can contribute to the health improvement agenda.

The programme is based on the national public health competencies framework and has been written to encompass six workshops which are delivered in a monthly sequence, over a six month period. Each cohort usually attracts between 20 - 25 participants. An additional full day Master Class event will take place approximately three months after the programme conclusion and will give participants an opportunity to celebrate their learning at a ‘market place' event as well as attending a Leadership and Empowerment seminar.

The programme is free of charge to participants, however, even though there are no fees payable there are considerable costs involved in coordinating and delivering the programme. Therefore we do expect that you will attend all of the sessions (or at least a minimum of 5 of the six) and programme certification will be based on this.

Programme participants also have the opportunity to gain credits for their learning from the Open College Network (levels 1, 2 & 3). If you choose to demonstrate your learning from the programme by undertaking the Open College Network accreditation attendance is required at all six workshops. In addition to this, we have been working in collaboration with Sheffield Hallam University to create a work based learning module for undergraduate /postgraduate credits.  This is available now and a new course will start in January.  Please click here for more details on both types of accreditation.

The delivery of the Win programme is a collaboration of partner organisations and has been devised as an introduction  and spring-board to further studies in public health. Learners are expected to participate and contribute to each session and will be assessed throughout the programme.
